Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) hosted an iftar party at Ladies Club of Eskaton in the capital on Monday in honour of politicians of the country.
BNP senior leaders including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir welcomed the leaders of different political parties and exchanged their pleasantries before the iftar. The iftar party was followed by dinner.
BNP leaders including standing committee members-Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Selima Rahman, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice-chairmen Abdullah Al Noman, Barkatullah Bulu, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Ahmed Azam Khan were present.
Meanwhile, BNP leaders met the mother of Prothom Alo reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams, who was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act, at her father’s house in Dhamrai.
Two BNP leaders—the party’s media cell convener Zahiruddin Swapan, and its member secretary Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anne, went to the house of Shamsuzzaman’s grandfather around 11:00am.
The BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is now staying at her Gulshan residence after getting conditional release from jail. The party acting chairman Tarique Rahman is staying in London on political asylum.
