A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Thursday that pacer Mustafizur Rahman will depart for India on April 3 to feature in the upcoming Indian Premier League.

Mustafizur was earlier retained by Delhi Capitals for the 16th edition of the IPL, scheduled to start today in Ahmedabad.

“He (Mustafizur) is expected to leave on April 3 as he is not part of our Test squad,” the official confirmed the matter to The Daily Sun.

The official, however, said that they are yet to take any decision regarding Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das, who applied for leave during the lone Test against Ireland to take part in IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders.

The BCB has made it clear several times that cricketers will have to complete national duties first before joining any franchise-based tournament.

However, there is a rumour floating in the air that Shakib might not play the Test against Ireland, scheduled in Dhaka on April 4-8.

“I’m not aware of it (Shakib’s availability in the Test) and you can know the actual situation when the Test squad will be announced,” said the official.

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon will have a media interaction in Chattogram after the third game against Ireland today and if Shakib can manage him before that only then he can skip the Test to feature in the IPL.
