Abahani Limited clinched their fifth successive win in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2022-23 after they thrashed Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club by 10 runs in the fifth round match at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, both City Club and Brothers Union Limited earned their first win in the ongoing meet after they beat Dhaka Leopards and Agrani Bank Cricket Club respectively by six and three wickets at the BKSP venues on the same day.
Skipper Naeem Islam made the highest 33 runs for Rupganj Tigers.
Abahani’s Anamul Haque Bijoy then struck an unbeaten 80 off 63 balls while Mohammad Naim also made 43 not out as they reached 131-0 in just 19.1 overs to move to the top position in the ongoing tournament.
At the BKSP-4 ground, Asif Hasan and Rafsan Al Mahmud took three wickets each as City Club dismissed Dhaka Leopards for 162 runs in 46.3 overs after they opted to field first.
Opener Jashim Uddin made 52 runs while Sohrawordi Shuvo scored 30 runs for Dhaka Leopards.
Shahriar Komol then made an unbeaten 69 runs while opener Rafsan Rahman also scored 50 runs as City Club reached 163-4 in 45 overs to hand Dhaka Leopards their fourth defeat in five matches.
Anisul Islam then struck a brilliant 107 off 114 balls while Sabbir Hossen made 62 runs as Brothers Union reached the target 287-7 with just one ball to spare to hand Agrani Bank their third defeat in the meet.
The sixth round matches will start on Thursday.
