Sports fraternity observes Independence Day

The country’s sports fraternity celebrated the 53rd Independence Day and National Day on Sunday commemorating the proclamation of independence by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman and the martyrs of the liberation war.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged a T10 exhibition match on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur to commemorate the day.

In the day’s match, Bangladesh Red XI won against Bangladesh Green XI by five wickets.

Bangladesh Football Federation also arranged a friendly football match between red and green teams, with the participation of former national players, at the BFF artificial turf on this day. SAFF and BFF president Kazi Md Salahuddin was present there.

The national football team, who were currently in Sylhet to play two-match FIFA Tier-1 International Football Series 2023 series against Seychelles, also observed the day.

Bangladesh Archery Federation organised a day-long Independence Day Archery Tournament 2023 (National ranking open tournament) at the Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi on Saturday. A total of 96 recurve and compound archers from 13 teams took part in the meet.
