Haleem, Biryani dominate Iftar Bazar at ICCB

Some delicious food items, especially Haleem and Biryani, have received good response from customers at old town iftar bazar of International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.  

 “Alike first day of Ramadan, Haleem and Biryani items are getting good response from people. There are three types of Haleem available here. Besides, Biryani is our signature items from Heritage restaurant,” Mehedi Hasan Mollah, deputy brand manager at ICCB, told the Daily Sun on Saturday.

Haleem is available at a price range of Tk 250 to Tk 700 in variations of beef and mutton. Cooked with a variety of ingredients such as wheat, barley, lentils and meat, Haleem is not only delicious but also source of nutrition.

The ICCB Heritage restaurant brings 42 types iftar including Biryani items. The price of Biryuani is Tk 400 for Chinigura rice and Tk 430 for Basmati rice.

The traditional iftar items of Old Dhaka attracted a huge crowd at ICCB as a month-long iftar bazaar began in the mega expo arena on Friday.

Following the previous years, ICCB kept focus on foods of old town at the seventh episode of the ‘iftar bazar’ campaign. Some 17 catering companies, including Heritage restaurant, participated in the fair with over 100 items of foods at 32 stalls at the fair.

Apart from various Iftar items, more than 30 types of fruit juices are available at the ‘Thanda-Gorom' stall. The prices of domestic and foreign fruit juices are also within reach.

 “We are getting a good response. The juice of the fruit that costs more costs a little more. However, all in all it is within the reach of buyers,” said Mohammad Sohagh, a salesperson of the stall.

There are available mango, litchi, watermelon, black jam, tamarind, grape, pomegranate, strawberry, apple plum juices.

The city’s renowned iftar makers and old Dhaka iftar item specialists, including master chef Subrat Ali, Ibrahim catering and Premier Catering, participated in the fair. The famous iftar item of old town, boro baper polay khai, attracted visitors at the ICCB fair.

Other popular iftar delicacies like reshmi kebab, tengri kebab, chicken tika, mutton leg roast, chicken spring roll, labang, reshmi jelapi, beef handy; milk shake, lachchhi, juice, bryani, tehari and haleem are on offer at the venue. The iftar bazaar starts from 3 pm everyday till 25th of Ramadan.
