Abahani Limited moved to the top of the points table of the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2022-23 after they clinched an eight-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers during their fourth round match at the BKSP-3 ground in Savar on Saturday.

Mohammad Naim continued his brilliant form as he struck an unbeaten 74 off 100 balls while Anamul Haque Bijoy also made 38 runs as Abahani reached 154-2 in 30.5 overs to complete their fourth successive win in the tournament.

Earlier, Mohammad Saifuddin claimed 4-30 while spinner duo Tanvir Islam and Rakibul Hasan took two wickets each as Abahani bowled Gazi Group all out for 153 runs in 42.2 overs after they decided to bowl first.

Meanwhile, in the day’s other matches, Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club and Agrani Bank Cricket Club clinched their second win in the tournament after they beat Dhaka Leopards and City Club respectively by five wickets and 18 runs in two different venues.

In Fatullah, Mominul Haque starred with the bat as he struck 75 off 94 balls while Amandeep Khare made an unbeaten 51 off 43 balls as Rupganj Tigers reached 249-5 in 49.2 overs to hand Dhaka Leopards their third defeat in the tournament. Earlier, Pinak Ghosh made 71 runs while Gem scored 47 runs as Dhaka Leopards posted 247-8 in their 50 overs after they elected to bat first.

At the BKSP-4 ground, fifties from Azmir Ahmed (89), Azim Nazir (66) and Marshall Ayub (62) helped Agrani Bank post 291-8 in their 50 overs after they were sent into bat first by City Club. Robiul Hoque and Taufike Ahmed finished with 4-63 and 3-57 respectively.

City Club then made 273-9 in 50 overs to suffer their fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament.

Tawfiq Khan Tushar made the highest 59 runs while Rafsan Al Mahmud (53) and Shahriar Komol (51) also scored fifties for City Club. The fifth round matches will be held on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
