Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has stressed the need for sustainable water management to promote global peace and stability.
The foreign minister has made the remark while presiding over the plenary session of the UN 2023 Water Conference.
Momen also delivered the closing remarks at the high-level event entitled “Water for Peace: From Source to Sea” at the UN Headquarters organised jointly by Bangladesh, Global Centre on Adaptation and Deltares.
In his remarks, focusing on ‘Source to Sea’ approach on water cooperation, Foreign Minister stressed on the need to sustainable water management for promoting global peace and stability.
The Permanent Representative of Bangladesh Ambassador Muhammad Abdul Muhith delivered welcome remarks and State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque delivered the opening remarks.
The event was attended by a significant number of diplomats and civil society representatives.
In the evening, Foreign Minister Momen attended the launching event of the International Panel on Deltas and Coastal Areas (IPDC) at the invitation of the Government of Netherlands.
