The demand for the internet in Bangladesh will increase to 30,000 gbps (Gigabytes per Second) in 2030, said Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Finland Ambassador to Bangladesh Ritva Koukku-Ronde  with residence in New Delhi.

“We have reached our bandwidth capacity of 4100 Gbps now from only 7.5gbps in 2008,” the minister said.

Jabbar said the number of internet users has reached 13 crore now from only 8 lakh during that time.

The posts and telecommunications minister urged the Finnish envoy to extend the country’s technical support to stop “contents that did not support community standards.”

Responding to the minister, Finland Ambassador to Bangladesh praised the advancement of digital infrastructure in Bangladesh.

She added that the cooperation with Finland’s company Nokia and Bangladesh will be expanded in the days to come.
