Today is the 4th death anniversary of country’s legendary singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah.
Born on January 2 in 1952 in Dhaka, Shahnaz Rahmatullah began her career as a playback singer with the film ‘Notun Sur’ in 1963. She first performed on television in 1964.
The singer has lent her voice to many popular songs, including ‘Ekbar Jete De Na Amar Chotto Sonar Gaye’, ‘Je Chilo Drishtir Shimanay’,‘Ek Tara Tui Desher Kotha’ ‘Amar Desher Matir Gondhe’, ‘Amai Jodi Proshno Kore’, ‘Shagorer Teer Theke’ and ‘Manik Shey Toh Manik Noy’.
Shahnaz Rahmatullah received Ekushey Padak in 1992 and Bangladesh National Film Award as Best Female Playback Singer in 1990.
The singer passed away on March 23 in 2019.
