Actor Khalequzzaman passes away

Veteran actor and freedom fighter Khalequzzaman died of heart attack at his Gulshan residence in the capital on Tuesday.

Khalequzzaman, son of Kamruzzaman and Shaista Akter Zaman, was born in Shantahar. He obtained Masters degree from the Institute of Fine Arts from Chittagong University.

Khalequzzaman became a BTV listed artiste in 1975. His first TV drama ‘Shorpobhrome Rojju’ was aired on BTV in 1976. After that he acted in various television plays including ‘Toma’, ‘Boro Bari’, ‘Somoy Osomoy’, ‘Shuborno Somoy’ and others. 

He also acted alongside Nayok Raj Razzak and Kabori in the film ‘Anirbaan’. He also appeared in the films including Murad Parvez’s ‘Brihonnola’, Shihab Shaheen’s ‘Chuye Dile Mon’ and Anam Biswas’s ‘Debi’.

The actor got much appreciation for the telefilm ‘Boro Chhele’, directed by Mizanur Rahman Aryan.

Khalequzzaman was also a freedom fighter. He was the deputy leader of  Bangladesh Liberation Force in Narsingdi’s Shibpur area.

His wife Momtaz Begum is a singer. They have a son and a daughter.
