Govt to sell milk, eggs, meat at lower price in capital

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has taken an initiative to sell milk, eggs and meat at lower prices at 20 points in the capital during Ramadan.
“Pasteurised liquid milk will be sold at Tk 80 per litre, beef at Tk 640 per kg, mutton at Tk 940 per kg, dressed broiler at Tk 340 a kg and eggs at Tk 10 per piece,” said a press release issued by the ministry on Tuesday.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim will inaugurate the programme, aimed at keeping the commodity market stable and ensuring protein for the consumers during the month of fasting, on Thursday.
The Department of Livestock will implement the programme taken by the ministry in cooperation with traders, producers and supply chain stakeholders.
The mobile sales points will be at Abdul Gani Road near the Secretariat, Khamarbari intersection, Japan Garden City at Mohammadpur, Mirpur 60 Feet Road, Azimpur Matrisadhon, Noyabazar in Old Dhaka, Arambagh, Natunbazar at Vatara, Kalshi at Mirpur, Khilgaon Railgate, Lucas intersection at Nakhalpara, Segunbagicha Kitchen Market, Bosila at Mohammadpur, Diabari at Uttara, Jatrabari, Gabtoli, Hazaribagh, Korail Slum at Banani, Kamrangirchar and Rampura. During last Ramadan, the ministry also sold milk, eggs and meat at fair prices. The price of pasteurised liquid milk was Tk 60 per litre, beef Tk 550 per kg, mutton Tk 600 per kg, dressed broiler Tk 200 per kg and eggs were selling at Tk 30 per four pieces.
