Archers leave for Taiwan to compete in Asia Cup

A 9-member Bangladesh archery team will leave Dhaka for Taiwan to compete in the Archery Asia Cup (Stage 1), the first world ranking tournament in Asia tonight (Tuesday) at 01:30am. The competition is scheduled to be held from March 16-19 at Taoyuan in Taiwan.

The Bangladesh archery team will start their international assignments this year with this event.

They will compete in seven out of ten events -- recurve men’s and women’s singles, men’s team, mixed teams and compound men’s and women’s singles and mixed teams events.

The archery federation announced the team including six archers and three officials. Olympian archer Ruman Shana, who recently started training in the camp after getting released from a two-year ban, was not part of the team.

Bangladesh team members are: Hakim Ahmed Rubel, Sagor Islam and Ram Krishna Saha (recurve men), Diya Siddique (recurve women), Mohammad Ashikuzzaman (compound men) and Shamoli Ray (compound women), Martin Frederick (head coach), Md Hasan (coach) and Ainal Haque Swapan (manager).
