Army man killed, two wounded

A member of Bangladesh Army was killed and two others were wounded as an armed group of Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA) opened fire on an army team at Rowangchhari in Bandarban on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Master Warrant Officer Nazim Uddin, son of late Shamser Ali of Ghaghatpara village of Rangpur Sadar upazila, said a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

 Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed has expressed profound sorrow at the death of Nazim Uddin, it added.

The KNA terrorist group suddenly fired on the army personnel who were engaged in the security of an army team which was going to provide free healthcare for women and children in remote hill areas on the occasion of National Children’s Day and Independence Day.

Nazim was shot and he died on the spot. Two other army soldiers were wounded in the firing. The injured soldiers were undergoing treatment.

Nazim has served at different levels of the army for 30 years with utmost integrity, dedication and professionalism.
