Bangladesh eye winning start against Turkmenistan

Bangladesh are determined to make a winning start in the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup 2024 qualifiers when they take on Turkmenistan in a Group H match today at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
Bangladesh U-20s, who clinched SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship 2023 title in February at the same venue, are boosted with confidence ahead of the match and want to extend their winning run from SAFF to AFC.
“Players are boosted with confidence after winning the SAFF title. We want to repeat the same result in the AFC. We also want to make a winning start against Turkmenistan,” head coach Golam Rabbani Choton told The Daily Sun after a training session on Thursday.
Bangladesh received a blow as their captain Shamsunnahar Jr got an injury during the session, but Choton believes that she would be able to play the match.
Turkmenistan already went on a backfoot after their humiliating 1-7 goals defeat against Iran in the first match on Wednesday at the same venue.
