Shadman Islam struck his maiden double hundred in first-class cricket while Marshall Ayub also scored a brilliant century as BCB South Zone extended their dominance over BCB Central Zone on the second day of the Bangladesh Cricket League 2022-23 final at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.
Shadman struck 246 off 448 balls with 29 fours and three sixes while Marshall made an unbeaten 120 off 214 balls before South Zone declared their first innings at 500-5 against the reigning champions.
Central Zone are still trailing by 467 runs while they need more 317 runs to score to avoid follow-on.
Resuming an overnight score of 234-3, South Zone lost skipper Fazle Mahmud (61) early on the day after pacer Mushfik Hasan removed the batsman to end the 154-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Shadman then put up a massive 218-run stand with Marshall that took their side close to the 500-run mark and by the meantime, the southpaw also completed his maiden first-class double ton.
Marshall also reached his 24th first-class hundred in the same partnership.
Shadman was finally dismissed by part-timer Mohammad Mithun but Moin Khan played a blistering eight-ball 18 not out to help his declare their first innings with a colossal total.
