3 get life for killing man in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH: A court here on Sunday sentenced three people to life-term imprisonment for killing a man namely Haque Ali at Mandia village under Harinakunda upazila of the district in 2014.

District and Session Judge Md Nazimuddoula handed down the verdict to Asadul Haque, Anisur Rahman Mondol and Khaksar Ali Mondol. All of them are the residents of Mandia village.

The court also fined Taka 20,000 each, in default, convicts will have to serve six months more in jail, said Public Prosecutor (PP) Ismail Hossain Badsha.

According to the prosecution, Haque Ali left his house after receiving Asadul’s call on July 7 in 2014.

After two days, on July 9 in 2014, police recovered his body from underground at the village.

The convicts strangled Haque Ali to death and placed his body in underground, police said.

Following the murder, Haque Ali’s wife filed a case accusing two named and a few unnamed people with Harinakunda Thana.

Later, police submitted a charge sheet against four people on March 1 in 2015.

Testifying witnesses and evidences, the court found them guilty and handed down the verdict. Another accused Toaj Uddin is discharged against the charge by the court as he died.
