World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam said that they would provide Bangladesh with three-step support for the development of the standard of swimming in Bangladesh. The three-step support included the popularisation of the sport at the grassroots levels, the technical and tactical development of local swimmers and the upgrading of the standards of the local coaches and judges.

“Bangladesh has a deep legacy in sports and we are here to extend our full support to the country,” the FINA Chief Husain, who was in Dhaka, said during an inauguration programme of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games 2023 swimming disciplines at the Sports Complex of Bangladesh Navy Headquarters on Friday.

“World Aquatics will support Bangladesh in three steps, the first one it expands the sports of swimming at the grassroots, secondly to help the swimmers develop technically and tactically with advanced training and third to upgrade the coaches and the judges’ standards,” added Husain, who is also the Olympic Council of Asia Director General and Kuwait Olympic Committee Secretary General.

Bangladesh Swimming Federation is a member of World Aquatics which is formerly known as FINA or International Swimming Federation. BSF President and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal, Bangladesh Olympic Association Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza and BSF General Secretary MB Saif were also present on the occasion.
