6th Global Youth Film Fest Bangladesh kicks off

The sixth Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh began on Friday. The three-day long event is being held in Cox’s Bazar. Organised by Cinema Bangladesh, the fest features films from 32 countries all over the world.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud inaugurated the event as chief guest. Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar Muhammad Shaheen Imran was present as the special guest.

Chairman of development authority of Cox’s Bazar Mohammad Nurul Absar, Cox’s Bazar Municipality Mayor Mujibur Rahman and President of Shommilito Sanskritik Jote Ghulam Kuddus were also present at the event.     

Films from the main competition section of the festival will be screened at the public library auditorium of Cox’s Bazar. The second venue of the film is the Laboni Point where the films are being shown everyday at 6:30 pm.

Apart from screening films directed by emerging filmmakers from both local and outside the country, some of the important contemporary short and full-length films will also be screened at the festival in the ‘invited film’ category. They are– ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’, ‘Mayar Jonjal’, ‘Moshari’, ‘Transit’ and ‘Damal’.

Cinema Bangladesh has been organising the festival in different cities of the country since 2017. In the previous years the festival took place in Laxmipur, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Bandarban, and Natore.
