Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman GM Quader alleged that the government is gagging the press by ‘making black laws’.

“Freedom of expression is people’s right. But people’s right to speech has been limited. Restrictive laws have been made to take away people’s right to speech,” he added.

The Jatiya Party chief came up with the statements while speaking at a programme marking the launch of a book at the party’s Banani office in the capital on Tuesday.  “It is natural that common people will be critical of the government’s activities and will give their opinion. This country is people’s republic and people are the owner of the state,” he said.

GM Quader said that Jatiya Party is carrying out political activity in the interest of people. “Establishing people’s right is our main priority.”

Jatiya Party Presidium Member Syed Didar Bakht wrote the book titled ‘Anandi Prerona’.
