Three factories and a jhut warehouse were gutted by fire in separate incidents in Narayanganj, Narsingdi and Gazipur districts on Tuesday.

However, there was no casualty in the fire incidents, confirmed the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) control room.

In Narayanganj, fire ripped through a spinning factory in Rupganj upazila and a chemical factory in Araihazar in the afternoon.

Firefighters had to use robots to douse the blaze of the chemical factory.

The FSCD media cell said they were informed of the blaze at Nannu Spinning Mills at Bhulta of Gawsia in Rupganj around 1:07pm.

The first unit of the fire brigade reached the spot around 1:25pm and later eight others joined it and they together brought the fire under control around 3:47pm.

Locals said the factory workers managed to come out of the building safely soon after the fire broke out.

Assistant Deputy Director of Narayanganj Fire Service said they were working to know the reason behind the fire.

HP Chemicals Ltd at Dupptara in Araihazar caught fire at about 1:30pm.

On information, 12 firefighting units were dispatched to the chemical factory and they brought the blaze under control around 5:20pm.

Witnesses said they noticed fumes coming out of the chemical factory around 1:30pm when it was closed as the factory authorities announced a special holiday for workers.

On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and began to douse the fire, but the flames started flickering, which created panic among the people around the factory.

The factory was manufacturing hydrogen peroxide and so the fire engulfed the entire factory quickly, said FSCD officer Mohammad Shajahan.

They used robots to douse the blaze, he said, adding that no one was injured in the incident as the factory was closed.

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.

Officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station said they closed the road from Gawsia to Araihazar for some time due to the fire.

In Narsingdi, a fire broke out at a textile factory Boubazar in Madhabdi around 3:18pm.

Being informed, two firefighting units rushed in and doused the flames around 3:54pm.               In Gazipur, a fire ripped through a tin-shed warehouse of jhut (garment scraps) at Dewliabari of Konabari in the city.

The fire erupted around 6:15pm, said the local fire service station.

On information, seven firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 8:45pm.
