East Zone emerge YCL champions

East Zone emerged champi-ons in Sheikh Kamal Youth Cricket League 2022-23 after they defeated Central Zone by seven wickets in the final at the Shaheed Kamruzza-man Stadium in Rajshahi on Saturday.

East Zone bowlers Ashraful Hasan (5-14) and Yeasir Arafat (5-19)were the stars of the game as both of them claimed five wickets each as they bowled their opponents all out for 142 runs in 44.4 overs after Central Zone decided to bat first.

For Central Zone, Maza-harul Islam top scoredwith 46 runs while Monir Hossain made 28 runs.

In reply, skipper Ariful Is-lam struck an unbeaten 56 off 40 balls while Zawad Abrar made run-a-ball 42 as East Zone reached 143-3 in 30.5 overs to clinch the Youth Cricket League title.

East Zone skipper and Bangladesh Under-19 batsman Ariful, who made the highest 250 runs in the tournament, was adjudged player of the tournamentwhileSihabPahar of Central Zone finished as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 13 wickets.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Game Development Committee ChairmanKhaled Mahmud and BCBAge Group Tournament Committee Chairman Obeid R Nizam and other BCB officials were also present during the final and they also distributed the prizes among the winners.
