JOYPURHAT: Farmers of the district are passing busy time in planting Boro saplings in all five upazilas in the current season, reports BSS.
According to Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources, around 69,750 hectares of land has been fixed for Boro cultivation in the current season with the production target of 2,82,686 tonnes of clean rice, DAE sources said.
DAE sources said Boro was cultivated on 16,810 hectares of land in Sadar upazila, on 19,995 hectares of land in Panchbibi upazila, on 10,350 hectares of land in Akkelpur upazila, on 10,500 hectares of land in Khetlal upazila and 12,075 hectares of land in Kalai upazila of the district.
Different banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) have taken extensive initiatives to disburse agri-loans to the Boro growers on easy term during the season.
To make the cultivation a grand success, necessary measures have been taken to supply fertilizers, insecticides and other agri-inputs to the farmers with ensuring power supply, DAE said.
Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension, Rahela Parveen said all necessary training and modern materials are being provided to the farmers for cultivating Boro in the district.
