The first-ever BIMSTEC Quiz will be held in Thimphu, Bhutan, on February 14, marking the 25th anniversary of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
Foreign Affairs Minister and External Trade of Bhutan Dr Tandi Dorji will be the chief guest in the programme, said the BIMSTEC Secretariat Dhaka on Friday.
The contest is being organised by the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan, and with the support of the Ministries of Foreign/ External Affairs of all the BIMSTEC Member States.
The Secretariat decided to organise an event of this nature in connection with BIMSTEC’s Silver Jubilee, recognising the importance of young people in driving regional cooperation and integration.
It is hoped that events of this nature will help foster fraternal spirits that are essential for meaningful regional cooperation to materialise, and that BIMSTEC Member States would be inspired to take steps to create more opportunities in future for young people in the region to come together and interact with each other as the Organisation evolves.
