PANCHAGARH: Customs Department has introduced passenger baggage scanner at Banglabandha Land Port in Panchagarh.
This scanner was launched in view of the long-standing demands of the passengers.
On Thursday afternoon, National Board of Revenue member Md Abdul Mannan Shikdar inaugurated the scanner.
Customs officials said that since this scanner is in operation, if the passengers carry illegal goods in their baggage, it will be easily marked. It will be possible to collect the duty.
Passengers said that as a result of the activation of the scanner, passengers’ baggage can be checked quickly without opening the bag and searching. This will reduce the suffering of the passengers and also reduce the time required to cross the border.
Commissioner of Rangpur Customs Excise and VAT Commissionerate Suresh Chandra Biswas, Assistant Commissioner of Banglabandha Land Customs Station Mobinul Islam and officials of various departments of the land port were also present in the opening ceremony.
