RAJSHAHI: A day-long skill development workshop was held at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Thursday aimed at improving its networking and automation system with strengthening IT Support.
Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) of RUET hosted the workshop titled ‘Professional ICT Skills for Smart Bangladesh’ held at the seminar hall of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Vice-chancellor-in-Charge Professor Sazzad Hossain addressed the opening ceremony as the chief guest with registrar Professor Selim Hossain in the chair.
Former Vice-chancellor Professor Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Dean Professor Nazrul Islam Mondal and Research and Extension Director Professor Faruque Hossain and IICT Associate Professor Dr Masud Rana also spoke.
Sazzad Hossain expected that the workshop will work as an intellectual platform in future to share ideas and present the latest findings and experiences in the mentioned areas.
He said Bangladesh has become digitalised under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the country’s people are enjoying the benefits of modern technologies. The country will be turned into smart by 2041.
ICT-related teachers and students of all universities should play supportive roles towards retaining the government endeavours in the years to come.
Professor Hossain said there are immense possibilities for the youths of the country to become self-reliant by engaging themselves in various income-generating activities.
Since the ICT sector is knowledge-based, educated youths can utilise their skills and can be self-reliant through online outsourcing. The ICT sector also contributes to industrial and infrastructural development, economic growth and social prosperity.
