A five-day film festival titled ‘Amar Bhasar Cholocchitro’ concluded at Dhaka University TSC premises in the capital on Thursday. Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) has organised the fest, marking the month of language February.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present at the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Prominent film writer and critic Mahmudul Hossain, filmmaker Moshiuddin Saker and DUFS General Secretary KM Itmam Islam also spoke at the event with DUFS president Shian Shahriar Alamgir in the chair.
Filmmaker Badal Rahman was awarded posthumously in the fest. Muhammad Quayum directed ‘Kura Pokkhir Shunye Ura’ got Hiralal Sen Padak as the best film. Besides, the films ‘Damal’, ‘Satao’, ‘Kura Pokkhir Shunye Ura’ and ‘Shimu’ were awarded in four categories.
18 contemporary and classical films, two short films and two documentaries from both Bengals were screened at the film festival.
