Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq has warned that legal action will be taken against Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) if it creates chaos during its foot march in the capital today.

The commissioner urged all the political parties and social organisations to stage their programmes on open spaces, but not on the streets.

At a press briefing at DMP Headquarters on Wednesday evening, he also urged them not to hold programmes on a working day, as it causes traffic gridlock.

He said it is BNP which will decide if they will arrange programmes on a working day. BNP’s programme would start from Old Dhaka and end at Jatiya Press Club via Nayapaltan, which would create traffic jam in the areas, he said.
