Programmes taken to observe Amar Ekushey in Netrakona

NETRAKONA: Netrakona district administration has designed elaborate programmes in line with the national programme to observe the Amar Ekushey February and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner.

District administration sources said the programme has been unanimously approved at a ‘joint meeting’ of district level officers, political parties, public representatives and leaders of different socio-cultural organisations and juvenile clubs and heads of different educational institutions held at the conference room of Netrakona DC office here on Wednesday, reports BSS.

Chaired by deputy commissioner (DC) and district magistrate, Netrakona Anjana Khan Mojlish, the meeting was, addressed, among others, by mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, chairman of Netrakona Sadar upazila Ataur Rahman Khan Manik, additional police super Netrakona Faqruzzaman Juwel and general secretary of Netrakona press club Muklesur Rahman Khan and journalist Alpana Begum.

The day’s programme will formally begin by placing floral wreaths at Netrakona central Shaheed minar at one minute past zero hours by the deputy commissioner of Netrakona.

As part of the programme, the national flag will be hoisted at half mast atop all the public and private buildings across the district at dawn.

Competition on hand writing, art, and poetry recitation for school children and cultural function will be held at Netrakona Shishu academy in the morning.
