Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will again hold march in the capital on February 9 and 12 to press home their 10-point demands, including resignation of the current Awami League government.
“As part of our ongoing movement for realising 10-point demand, BNP Dhaka South and North city units have decided to hold march in the city again,” BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.
As per the announcement, BNP’s Dhaka South City unit would march towards the Jatiya Press Club from Gopibagh Brothers Union Club ground at about 2:00pm on February 9 while Dhaka North City unit will hold march programme towards Bosila Saat Rasta intersection from Shyamoli playground at about 2:00pm on February 12.
Earlier, the party’s two units observed the march programme on January 28, 31, 30 and February 1 respectively to realise the same demands.
Mentioning that BNP has earlier declared march at union level across the country for February 11, Mirza Fakhrul said they will again come up with more agitation programmes to protest against price hike of gas, electricity and essential commodities.
In response to a query, he said "Not yet. I can't say whether hartal or besiege will come in the future.”
People will decide what type of movement programme will be held in the country to realise their demands, he added.
Mirza Fakhrul also urged the ruling Awami League to come back from holding programmes the same day of BNP programmes.
