Mayar Jonjal’s trailer released in Kolkata Book Fair

Noted Bangladeshi actor Aupee Karim and Indian actor Ritwick Chakraborty starrer film ‘Mayar Jonjal’ (Debris of Desire) will be released in theatre in Bangladesh and India on February 24. 

Ahead of theatre release, the trailer of ‘Mayar Jonjal’ was unveiled at Kolkata Book Fair on Monday.  Josim Ahmed, producer of the movie, confirmed the news to the media on the day.

‘Mayar Jonjal’ is Bangladesh-India joint venture film. Josim Ahmed from Bangladesh is the producer of the film while Indian filmmaker Indranil Roychowdhury has directed the movie.

Aupee Karim has played an important role in the film. Through the film Aupee Karim has returned to silver screen after 15 years long hiatus.

Aupee Karim has portrayed the role of Shoma and noted Indian actor Ritwick Chakraborty has played the character of Shoma’s husband in ‘Mayar Jonjal’.

The film is based on two short stories by Manik Bandopadhyay, ‘Bishakto Prem’ and ‘Shubala’.

Besides Aupee Karim and Ritwick Chakraborty, celebrated Indian actors Paran Bandopadhyay, Chandreyee Ghosh, Bratya Basu, Bangladeshi actor Shohel Mondal and others have played different roles in the film. 

 ‘Mayar Jonjal’ has garnered appreciation on multiple international platforms upon screening, and was also honoured with accolades around the globe.

The film first premiered at the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival in 2020.
