CHATTOGRAM: A huge number of adulterated cosmetics were seized from an illegal factory in the city's Bayezid Bostami area on Sunday.
The Chattogram district administration and the Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute (BSTI) jointly conducted the drive.
Sources said the factory, "JB Care Bangladesh," used to manufacture adulterated cosmetics, including soap, shampoo, detergent, glycerine, face wash, different tablets, cream, and painkillers.
Executive Magistrate Protik Dutta of the district administration said that, on information, they raided the factory and found them producing the adulterated items.
They were also using the BSTI logo on different items without obtaining licenses, he said.
During the drive, the factory manager and three workers were detained.
However, the workers were released after taking an undertaking due to their age, he said.
