India’s union minister for power RK Singh on Sunday said India has set itself the target of producing 500 gigawatts of power — about 50pc of the country’s total energy requirement, through non-fossil fuel sources by 2030. “India is among the top 5 major economies in terms of achieving energy transition from fossil fuels to non-fossil fuels. We had pledged to produce 40pc of capacity through non-fossil fuels by 2030, but we have achieved it as early as November 2020,” he added.
