Journalist, poet and writer Shahnaz Munni has received ‘Ananya Sahitya Puraskar1429’.  She got the award for her contribution to the field literature. 

The award was handed over to Shahnaz Munni at an event held at Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the capital’s Shahbagh area on Saturday.

Writer Anwara Syed Haq graced the occasion as the chief guest while writer and Jahangirnagar University teacher Hamim Kamrul Islam attended programme as the special guest with the fortnightly Ananya and The Daily Ittefaq editor Tasmima Hossain in the chair. 

Shahnaz Munni is a journalist, poet and writer. She is the chief news editor of television channel News24.  

As a writer, she is a poet, an essayist, a short story writer and a novelist, writing for young people. ‘Jiner Konnaya’ (The Spirit's Daughter), her first book of short stories was published in 1997.

The fortnightly Ananya introduced the literary award for women in Bengali year 1401. Since 1993, ‘Ananya Sahitya Puroshkar’ has been conferred on eminent women writers for their contributions in the field of literature.
