An international exposition of the paper industry, PaperTech kicked off in Dhaka to showcase the manufacturing facilities and solutions from local and foreign companies.
Some 120 companies from India, China, Oman and Bangladesh are participating at the three-day expo at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).
Bangladesh Paper Mills Association (BPMA) Secretary General Mustafa Kamal Mohiuddin inaugurated the expo on Thursday while Bashundhara Group deputy managing director Mustafizur Rahman was present as the guest of honour.
Bangladesh Exhibitions organised the PaperTech for the fifth time to support the match making among businesses from home and abroad.
In his speech, BPMA Secretary General Mustafa Kamal Mohiuddin said the paper industry is growing rapidly in Bangladesh comprising more than 120 paper mills that generate employment of over 5 lakh people.
“The per capita paper consumption in Bangladesh is nearly 9 kilograms which is far away from the global average of 57 kilograms. There is a huge potential for Bangladesh manufacturers to contribute to increasing consumption with quality products,” he said.
The BMPA leader urged the participating companies to continue raising awareness about environmental sustainability and eco-friendly methods
to reduce carbon emissions.
Bashundhara Paper Mills Limited (BPML) is participating in the papers with a wide range of products including papers and tissues.
“From Bashundhara Paper, we participate in the fair with 100 types of papers, full range of tissues, diapant products,” Mohammad Alauddin, head of marketing at BPLM, told the Daily Sun.
Foreign participant, Shitla Papers managing director Ayush Mittal said that Bangladesh is a promising market for the paper industry as the paper merchant provides all out solutions for manufacturing in the sector.
Jill Bhalodiya of Palak Paper Mills is participating in the PaperTech expo from India to share the latest innovations from the company in special products for the packaging industry.
The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 7 pm till Saturday.
