Unidentified miscreants killed a freedom fighter after looting valuables from his house in Narayanganj.
The deceased is freedom fighter Abdul Halim. He was murdered at his home in Maulabazar of Fatullah's Dharmaganj area, sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to police.
Police recovered his body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy.
Quoting family members, Humayun Kabir, sub-inspector of Fatullah Model Police Station, said that the miscreants looted about Tk 30 lakh and some gold ornaments from the house. They also took the hard discs of CCTV cameras from the residence.
The victim's son, Mohammad Masud, said all of their family members went to their relative's house on Tuesday, leaving him and his father at home.
"Three men entered our flat at 11 pm and tied me up with a rope and blindfolded me.Then they beat me up and entered his father’s room afterward. The miscreants looted Tk 30 lakh they had after selling a piece of land. The criminals also looted gold ornaments," he said.
However, Masud could not clear how the criminals entered the flat.
Nazmul Hasan, additional superintendent of police of Narayanganj, said that they suspected that the freedom fighter might have been suffocated.
Police are trying to arrest the killers, he added.
