Noted Bangladeshi actor Aupee Karim has played an important role in the film. Through the film Aupee Karim has returned to silver screen after 15 years long hiatus.
Aupee Karim has portrayed the role of Shoma and noted Indian actor Ritwick Chakraborty has played the character of Shoma’s husband in ‘Mayar Jonjal’.
The film is based on two short stories by Manik Bandopadhyay, ‘Bishakto Prem’ and ‘Shubala’.
Besides Aupee Karim and Ritwick Chakraborty, celebrated Indian actors Paran Bandopadhyay, Chandreyee Ghosh, Bratya Basu, Bangladeshi actor Shohel Mondal and others have played different roles in the film.
The story of the film revolves around a petty criminal, who falls for a sex worker but plans to run away with her savings. He comes across a laid-off factory worker who doesn’t want to see his housewife as a housemaid.
The film first premiered at the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival in 2020.
