BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said no election can be held in a free and fair manner under the current Awami League government and people won’t allow any more polls under the party in power.
“In last two general elections, no one casted their vote. They (ruling Awami League) had declared themselves elected. ….Voting is not safe under your (incumbent government) hand. So, such election can’t be held,” he said.
The BNP leader made the statement while inaugurating the party’s second foot march arranged by the party’s Dhaka South City unit in front of Jatrabari Ideal School in the capital. They marched from Jatrabari to Jurain on the day. “The Awami League is losing its ground. Every day, they are being more detached from the people,” he said.
