The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday urged deputy commissioners to show zero tolerance towards corruption and take immediate measures in case of any corruption in their respective districts.
“We’ve urged the DCs to show zero tolerance for corruption and take immediate action if any irregularities take place. We’ve made them understand that it won’t be possible to develop the country if corruption prevails,” ACC Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah said.
The ACC chairman called upon the DCs, head of the district-level administration, to keep a vigil to check corruption at every sector and share information on graft with the authorities concerned of their respective districts.
“Whenever you get any information about corruption, inform us of it instead of suppressing it,” he told the deputy commissioners.
Briefing reporters, Abdullah said they asked the DCs to take necessary measures to curb corruption.
He also urged the DCs to make people aware so that they could inform the administration of any corruption. “We’ve urged the deputy commissioners to make people aware of how to report irregularities to the commission. They (DCs) may inspire people to share information on corruption through toll-free hotline 106,” he said.
Responding to a query about allegation of corruption against the DCs, the ACC chairman said, “If the allegation is based on fact, we’ll investigate it, no matter whether the suspect is a DC or AC (assistant commissioner).”
