Mehidy named in ICC’s ODI team

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz was picked in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year 2022, the International Cricket Council revealed on Tuesday.

Mehidy is the lone Bangladeshi player to get selected in the list this year after he scored 330 runs at an average of 66 and also took 24 wickets at an economy rate of 5.44 in 15 ODIs during 2022.

Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam has been named as the captain of the team. Apart from the Men’s ODI team, the ICC also announced four different teams - ICC Men’s Test Team of the Year, ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year, ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year and ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year for 2022.

 Teams were identified from selections submitted by the specialist panel of media representatives that make up the ICC Voting Academy. 

ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year 2022: Babar Azam (Pakistan) (c), Travis Head (Australia), Shai Hope (West Indies), Shreyas Iyer (India), Tom Latham (New Zealand) (wk), Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh), Alzarri Joseph (West Indies), Mohammed Siraj (India), Trent Boult (New Zealand) and Adam Zampa (Australia).
