Govt provides Tk 1.40cr aid to 272 Khulna distressed labourers

KHULNA: The government has provided Taka 1.40 crore in aid to 272 distressed labourers and their children in the district.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian distributed cheques of money among them at Khalishpur Labour Welfare Centre here on Wednesday evening, reports BSS.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque was special guest as the aid was provided from Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Fund.

Begum Monnujan Sufian said the government is working tirelessly to ensure child labour-free workplace in the country by 2030.

Mentioning that the government is also implementing different programmes to change fortune of labourer, she said any labourer of the country would not be helpless in future.

She, however, said Khulna’s all jute mills will go into production soon, assuring each distressed labourer of providing government aid.

Chaired by Director of Directorate of Labour in Khulna division Md Mizanur Rahman, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin and city unit Awami League Joint Secretary Md Ashraful Islam, also addressed.
