‘Aly Zaker Notuner Utsab 2023’ begins Jan 21

A six-day theatre festival titled ‘Aly Zaker Notuner Utsab 2023’ will begin at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital on January 21. 

Nagorik Natya Sampradaya in association with Mangaldeep Foundation is going to organise the festival to pay respect to noted artiste Aly Zaker.

Five new theatre plays--‘Remand’ directed by Subhash Sinha, ‘The Respectful Prostitute’ by Alok Basu, ‘Shokhi Rongomala’ by Mohammad Ali Haider, ‘Adam Surot’ by Bakar Bakul and ‘Acholyaton’ by Azad Abul Kalam will be staged at the event. 

The inaugural ceremony of the festival will be held at National Theatre Hall of BSA at 06:30pm on January 21. Noted cultural personality and actor Ferdousi Majumdar will inaugurate the festival. State Minister of Cultural Affairs K M Khalid will grace the occasion as the chief guest while Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky will attend as special guest with convener of the festival Sara Zaker in the chair. 

A press conference was held on the festival at the seminar hall of BSA on Sunday. Veteran cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor briefed the details about the festival at the conference.  Noted actress Sara Zaker, director Alok Basu, among others, were present on the occasion.
