RAJSHAHI: Assistant High Commission of India in Rajshahi organised a cleanliness drive as part of Government of India’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign on Saturday, reports BSS.

The office personnel accompanied by the students of Islami Bank Medical College and Hospital and Barind Medical College and Hospital conducted the campaign from the city’s Talaimary to Alupatty crossing.

Assistant High Commissioner Monoj Kumar also joined the campaign collecting the wastes and garbage from streets besides dumping those in dustbins.

Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi, the Assistant High Commissioner mentioned the details of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign and how it was launched by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi to accelerate the efforts to achieve universal cleanliness.

He also highlighted the need to make cleanliness a general civic habit and how the campaign resonates with the ongoing initiative of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) in keeping the city clean and green.

Monoj Kumar also said the two neighbouring countries-- Bangladesh and India-- maintain close and cordial relations on various bilateral fields and issues.

In South Asia, Bangladesh and India will continue to work together to establish a secure bilateral relation for the benefit of all people as the closest neighbours, he mentioned.
