The former university teacher, who killed a woman trapped under the car in the Dhaka University campus last year, died in prison on Friday.

The killer Azhar Jafar Shah was taken to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from Keraniganj Central Jail.

Later, when he was taken to DMCH, the doctor on duty declared him dead after the examination.

The teacher, Mohammad Azhar Jafar Shah, a former faculty of International Relations Department of DU, was sacked from the university in 2018.

A woman was killed after she was dragged along the road underneath a car on Dhaka University campus on December 2 last year.

DMCH police camp inspector in-charge Bachchu Mia said that the prisoner named Zafar Shah was brought to Dhaka Medical from the Central Jail.

“The body has been kept in the mortuary of the emergency department. The postmortem will be conducted in the presence of an executive magistrate,” he said.
