Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has said the city corporation will facilitate the creation and renewal of trade licenses online.
“Required preparations are going on in this regard. The online trade license will be opened soon,” the DNCC mayor said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of “DNCC Oikkyo Holiday Market” in the capital’s Agargaon area on Friday.
Atiqul Islam said the necessary arrangements have already been taken to pay all kinds of city taxes from digital platform staying at home.
The DNCC Mayor also pledged to establish such holiday markets in 54 wards under the city corporation if the pilot project is successful.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi attended the programme as the chief guest while Dhaka Metropolitan Police additional commissioner Mir Rezaul Karim was present at the event as the special guest. Mayor Atiqul Islam presided over the session.
DNCC chief executive officer Salim Reza, ward commissioner Forkan Hossain and Mahfuzur Rahman of Oikya Foundation were present on the occasion.
Addressing the programme, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi appreciated the journey of the holiday market started with the goal of providing services as per the needs of the city dwellers, where entrepreneurs of the SME sector can do business.
The holiday market would sit on Friday and Saturday on both sides of the road in the area. The market will feature leather products, jute-made products, handicrafts, fashion-lifestyle products, home decor products, organic agricultural products, food products, beverages and agriculture products of the CHT region.
