CHATTOGRAM: Chittagong University (CU) authority expelled 18 students including 17 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of the university unit on different charges on Wednesday.
The suspension order came after a meeting of Board of Residence, Health and Discipline of the university held on January 9, said CU Proctor Dr Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan.
Besides, two BCL activists Arshil Azim Niloy of Public Administration under 2018-2019 session and Shoeb Mohammad Atiq of Anthropology department under 2019-2020 session were suspended for a year each for assaulting a campus reporter physically on September 26 of the same year. Sociology department student Hasan Mahmud and Institute of Education and Research (IER) student Shahidul Islam of 2016-2017 session were suspended for one and two years respectively for vandalising provost room of Alaol Hall on October 8.
Six more BCL-men were suspended for one year each for their involvement in factional clash, vandalism and threatening another journalist on December 2.
