4 killed in road accidents

A woman and a child were killed when an oil-laden truck ran over their carrying rickshaw-van at Bhuapur upazila of Tangail on Thursday.

The identities of the deceased were not known immediately. The accident took place at Bagbari area of the upazila at 3:30 pm.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhuapur Police Station Faridul Islam said that in the afternoon a battery-run van was going to Gobindasi area with passengers from Bhuanapur headquarters.

A child and a woman in the van were killed on the spot when the truck coming from the opposite direction hit them at Bagbari on the way.

Two others were also injured. They have been admitted to Upazila Health Complex.

He also said that the driver and his assistant left the truck and ran away immediately after the incident.

In another incident, a college was killed after being hit by a truck at Gomstapur of Chapainawabganj in Noakhali.

The deceased was identified as student Shaheen Babu, 22, son of Ekramul Haque of Jadupur village. He was an honors 2nd year student of Rahanpur Yusuf Ali Government College.

In Chattogram, a 15-year-old girl was killed after a truck overturned on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram in the early hours of Thursday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Priya Rani Rishi, a resident of Sitakunda railway station area. She worked at a shoe factory in Bashbaria union.
