Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has said Bangladesh Army will be turned into a smart force in line with ‘Smart Bangladesh’.
“It’s expected that Bangladesh Army will be smart in line with Smart Bangladesh,” he said after observing the final exercise of army’s winter exercise ‘Nobo Uddog’ at Delduar in Tangail on Thursday.
He said Bangladesh is going ahead under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “Bangladesh Army is also moving forward in continuation of it.”
The army chief said they are enhancing the use of technology wherever possible to make the force smarter.
"Our TA, DA and the pay structure was old-fashioned. It has been digitised. Everyone will enjoy its benefit. I mentioned only a process. In this way, we’re taking the advantage of digitalisation in all spheres,” he added.
General Shafiuddin said, “We’re making Bangladesh Army as smart as needed to keep pace with the nation.”
Stating that special importance is being given to training, he said, “The winter training is ending today. You know that organising training like this takes a lot of efforts. The prime minister told me to put emphasis on training. We’re moving forward to achieve ‘Forces Goal 2030’ by increasing training programmes as per her instructions.” Quoting the prime minister, the army chief said, “If army can’t gain people’s trust, it can’t achieve success. No army in the world could win any war without its people’s support.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Army's three-week winter training 2022-2023 ‘Exercise Nobo Uddog’ ended on Thursday through the final exercise.
Eager residents of Delduar upazila also observed the final exercise from various safe corners.
Bangladesh Army's 9th Infantry Division successfully conducted the exercise. The exercise involves the removal of obstacles by armoured fleets, APCs as well as army engineers and assaults on enemy positions involving infantry and other corps.
