Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed visited the winter training area of 10th Infantry Division in Shamlapur of Cox’s Bazar and 33 Infantry Division in Swarna Dweep of Noakhali and Coastal Defence System in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.

During his visit, General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed urged the solders to increase the offensive capability in keeping with the times and said Bangladesh Army has emerged as an efficient, orderly and organised force today.

The army chief expressed the opinion that besides protecting the independence, sovereignty and integrity of the country, it has gained good reputation by carrying out various country-building activities, dealing with national disasters and peacekeeping activities in the international environment.

Besides, he instructed the soldiers to be ready to face the challenges of the 21st century by acquiring skills through modern and up-to-date training while keeping the morale high. Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory (BMTF) Managing Director (MD) Major General Sultanuzzaman Md Saleh Uddin, General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Area Commander Cox’s Bazar Area Major General Md Fakhrul Ahsan, Army Welfare Organisation Chairman Major General Iftekhar Anis, Military Secretary Major General Khan Firoz Ahmed, General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Area Commander Comilla Area Major General Md Mainur Rahman and Major General AKM Rezaul Mazid were present at that time.

Later, under the management of 10 Infantry Division and 33 Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army, the army chief distributed winter clothes among the 1,100 helpless and distressed families in Shamlapur of Cox's Bazar district and Swarna Dweep of Noakhali district respectively.
