Archer Hakim Ahmed Rubel clinched a lone silver medal in the Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 3 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
Bangladesh’s best achievement in the competition as Rubel finished runners-up in the recurve men’s individual event on the final day.
Rubel defeated India’s Akash by 6-4 set points to qualify for the last-four after winning over Wan Chun Kit of Hong Kong by 6-4 set points and Vietnam’s Nong Van Linh in the tie-breaker by 6-5 set points to reach the quarterfinal.
Bangladesh could have managed two bronze medals in the recurve division but failed to do so as they lost to their opponents Kazakhstan 2-6 in the recurve men’s team and Uzbekistan 3-5 in the recurve mixed team events.
Including the day’s silver, Bangladesh won four medals in this competition as Nawaz Ahmed Rakib won bronze in the compound men’s individual event while the other two bronze came from the compound men’s team event and compound mixed team event.The archery team are expected to return home today.
