Law enforcers have launched action against BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami men by filing cases and making arrest as they were involved in clashes and vandalism in the name of holding mass procession in different parts of the country on Saturday that left over 100 people including a number of policemen injured.
Five separate cases have been filed in connection with the police-BNP clash in Panchagarh.
In Lakshmipur, police filed a case against 271 Jamaat-Shibir activists. The case was filed on charges of vandalism, explosion and attempt to destroy government property.
Two persons, Sohail and Maulana Ismail, were arrested on Saturday night. They were sent to jail on Sunday.
Laxmipur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mosleh Uddin confirmed the arrest.
